John Tasker: Earth

The Earth. Our home. It is not a home away from home, but the only spot in the universe that provides for all the creatures great and small....including us. This series takes a bouncing ride over and under our world. There is so much good and right on our floating island, but unfortunately we sometimes need to look at and be reminded of two sides of the same coin. These are pictorial views with written dialog, but I hope they might touch upon sentiments shared by others. Like any island we are in the middle of a vast space surrounded by, in this case, the vacuum of space. We need to remember that!

The heat is turning up and all of us feel the burn. The Planet is suffering from Global warming. We are also suffering from unjust politics: Hateful people with powers to wield bad ideas, hurting us before they heal us, taking before they give, altering our lives before they understand what they are doing, and creating danger where there should be peace and happiness. They are confused.

Fruit of the planet feeds the planet!

"Water, Water everywhere, but not a drop to drink!" An old rhyme referring to water in abundance, but undrinkable. Let's not become the rhyme!

Let's not treat the Earth like a beachball being kicked about and played with as if it was a dispensable toy.

As we float in space we share with each other our voices. Satellites surround our world helping us to do just that, but just as life has a bright side there is also the balance of a dark side. Vigilance!

If multiple universes exist what would they look like? Well, I believe the universe is connected in such a way that defies imagination, however, my garden variety is far from reality, but you get the idea.

The Earth is the World and the World is the Earth. They are one and the same. Hidden in nature is the World. We might not be able to see its roundness, but we can see its nurturing tendencies. The gift of life for us all!

A beacon into the depth of the universe. A sign of our composure and hope.

Hot Planet in millions and millions of years or Hot Planet in 100 years? "Dealers Choice" as they say in gambling rooms!

An image of Earth etched onto a platinum plate. Sent into space 100,000 years ago with the the hope that it would be discovered by another civilization. Hope lives eternal!

The earth hiding the sun. The moon in darkness as the shadow moves across its landscape. A trilogy of cosmic cat and mouse played over and over. Billions of people having breakfast, lunch or dinner at this very moment. Unseen!

Held in place by mythical monolithic structures the Planet Earth stands on the precipice of the universe!

Flotsam and jetsam is what occurs by human consumption. It occurs on land, sea and air, also in the vacuum of space.

String Theory is about Quantum gravity......A vibration that unifies

Quantum mechanics with Einstein's general theory of relativity. The big stuff and the little stuff united.

A slice of vertical bare earth exposed to the light of day. The lowest Strata is much older than the top Strata, maybe by millions of years. A magical time capsule. Hidden in the center is mother earth that holds it all together!

The Earth Rotates on its Axis 1,000 MPH. The Earth Rotates around the Sun 66,000 MPH. Our Sun and Solar System Rotates around the Milky Way (our Galaxy) 514,500 MPH and our Galaxy speeds through the Universe at 1,340,00 MPH. Yet on a sunny calm day you can hear the birds sing. Amazing!

Everything and anything happens in the vastness of space. Metaphorically, the Earth is imagined blocking the Suns rays while floating in the soup of cosmic bombardment.

From seemingly nothingness comes the magic of life. What soup Du jour will be on our lives menu today?

Solar Winds bombard our World every second of the day. Our magnetic field and atmosphere are our only protection. The only lever we have any control over is our atmosphere of which we are destroying.

What holds us together? Keeps us afloat? Questions of life and mysteries of Space.

Worlds apart. Spinning light years away. Away from prying eyes till now. What is their story?

A message on a rock. Like a message in a bottle this traveling artifact is a time capsule of hope, traveling in Space forever (in our hearts).

Rock and Roll. The substance of our matter, of everything we see and touch still moves through space awaiting a new home.

The complexity of life on Earth follows the introduction of planet making material. Over and over and over for billions of years, Space rocks filled with all the chemicals and water needed for the eventual spark we call life bombarded our world to make it as beautiful as it is.

Beacon Or Target?

Hope lives eternal!

Within the mass of Space is our home we call Earth. It is difficult to see amongst the trillions of of stars and Planets, but we call it home!

Positive to negative, up and down, down to up. A casted net of energy engulfs our world in mysterious ways. Endless resources if we allow ourselves balance and respect to our Home Planet.

I contemplate the sky and take stock of the ground. A balance between ground and sky is a marriage of sorts. I am moved with emotion by the sequence of clouds, because it gives context to the sky, and a sense of personality. Today the Sky is soft like a pillow, tomorrow maybe wispy or even angry. Clouds are shapeshifters that tell us stories.
